Abstract

The supplementation of TRIS freezing extender containing 6 % glycerol with glutamine during freezing and thawing was studied at 0, 5, I0, 20, 40 and 80 mM in 6 ejaculates (3 bulls ¡¿ 2 ejaculates). The percentage of total and progressive motile sperm was assessed after thawing by computer assisted sperm analyzer. When compared with the control (0 mM), supplementation of TRIS freezing extender with glutamine did not increase the post-thaw total and progressive motility of bull sperm. Though 5 mM glutamine did not decrease the motility, increasing the glutamine concentration in the freezing extender significantly decreased the post-thaw motility of bull sperm. Bull effect on post-thaw motility was observed among 3 bulls.
